Two Type 4 composite cascades built and delivered in Rajasthan

Project overview

As India’s CNG and CBG infrastructure grows, so does the demand for efficient, lightweight gas storage and transportation.

Urjika manufactured and supplied two Type 4 composite cylinder cascades, delivering one unit each to Bikaner and Tonk in Rajasthan. The project covered manufacturing, delivery to two separate locations and the final handover.

Objectives

• Manufacture two Type 4 composite cylinder cascades to the project requirements.
• Coordinate timely delivery to two locations in Rajasthan.
• Supply lightweight composite cascades for gas storage and transportation.
• Complete the equipment handover at each destination.

The engineering solution

Type 4 composite cylinders use a non-metallic liner reinforced with carbon-fibre composite — a lightweight alternative to conventional all-metal cylinders.

• Type 4 composite technology — advanced composite construction for high-pressure gas storage.
• Lightweight construction — lower cylinder weight than conventional steel designs, depending on the configuration.
• Carbon-fibre reinforcement — high-strength composite built for pressure containment.
• Transportation efficiency — lower tare weight can improve payload, subject to vehicle and regulatory limits.
